Schmitz Ready Mix Hanger Portfolio
A successful concrete project involves a beautiful concept, a solid design, talented workers, and an outstanding product all blending together to create something memorable. These are the projects that the Wisconsin Ready Mixed Concrete Association, in conjunction with the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Concrete Institute, have been honoring for 24 years with the Concrete Design Awards.
Each entry into the Concrete Design Award competition is required to submit photos of the project, ideally taken throughout the construction process, and a narrative describing various aspects of the project. Possible items discussed in the narrative are the project's aesthetics, engineering design skill, use of ready mixed concrete including special mix designs, construction techniques, and percentage of ready mixed concrete used.
Projects are eligible for consideration for an award if the project was 90% complete during the past two years. The ready mix supplier for the job must be a current member of the WRMCA, both the year of the project and the year of the design award presentation.
All entries are reviewed by a panel of judges, including representatives from the Milwaukee School of Engineering, UW-Milwaukee School of Architecture, the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Concrete Institute, the immediate past president of the WRMCA and the WRMCA Awards Committee Chair or their representative. The judges do not know who submitted the project, nor the names of any construction team members.
